FAQ
What SPF level should I use on my face every day?
We recommend applying a face cream with SPF of at least 30 every day, rain or shine, indoors or outdoors. Sunscreen should be the final step in your morning skincare routine, after serum and moisturizer and before makeup. Apply about half a teaspoon to the face, extending to the hairline, ears, neck, and décolleté. Reapply after swimming or sweating, and at least every two hours.
Most importantly, choose a formula you love wearing. The best face sunscreen is the one you’ll apply every morning, and reapply consistently. Explore our sun care edit to discover the formulas in our collection.
What is the difference between a mineral and a chemical sunscreen?
Chemical sunscreens contain filters such as octisalate or avobenzone that penetrate the skin and absorb UV rays, converting them into heat. As our founder, Rhea, explains, heat can irritate sensitive skin and exacerbate rosacea and melasma.
Mineral sunscreens for the face use zinc oxide to sit on the skin's surface and reflect UV rays, starting to work the moment they are applied. Every formula in our sun care collection is mineral-based and enriched with potent antioxidant blends for an additional layer of protection, making them our top pick, especially for sensitive and rosacea-prone skin.
Is tinted sunscreen good for mature or sensitive skin?
Yes. A well-formulated tinted sunscreen can help even the appearance of skin tone, soften the look of texture, and provide broad-spectrum protection with a lightweight alternative to foundation. Many formulas also offer anti-aging and smoothing benefits, making them especially appealing for mature skin.
For mature skin, we recommend a dewy or luminous finish to keep skin looking fresh and radiant. For sensitive skin, every tinted formula in our collection is mineral-based and fragrance-free, helping decrease the likelihood of irritation. Explore our full sun care collection to find the formula and finish best suited to your skin.
Is SPF moisturizer as effective as regular sunscreen?
It depends. Many SPF moisturizers and foundations that advertise as including sun protection typically contain only SPF 15, which does not provide sufficient protection on its own.
SPF should always be its own final step, applied after serum and moisturizer and before makeup. However, a face moisturizer with SPF, formulated with an adequate concentration of UV filters, can offer protection comparable to that of standalone sunscreen at the same SPF. To ensure it's fully effective, use half a teaspoon to cover the face (all the way to the hairline), ears, neck, and décolleté, and reapply throughout the day.
About the La Suite Sun Care Edit
A sun care product is the final, non-negotiable step in every morning routine, and the one many people skip. As La Suite Skincare founder Rhea Souhleris Grous says, even the most advanced creams and treatments can’t deliver their full potential without consistent daily sun protection
La Suite is an authorized retailer of premium facial sun care formulas, including mineral, tinted, and daily SPF products from a curated selection of clinically proven brands. These high-performance formulas help protect against the visible effects of premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and loss of luminosity while supporting a healthy, radiant complexion.
Mineral vs. Tinted SPF, Finding Your Formula
Mineral sunscreen for the face uses physical UV filters such as zinc oxide to help shield the skin from UV radiation, making it a popular choice for sensitive, reactive, or rosacea-prone skin. Chemical sunscreens absorb UV radiation and convert it into heat, often offering lightweight, elegant textures, though some formulas may be more irritating for sensitive skin.
Tinted sunscreen for the face combines broad-spectrum UV protection with buildable, skin-enhancing coverage in a single step, making it ideal for those who prefer a natural-looking finish or a streamlined routine.
